How to Create a Draw

Learn how to define your draw, manage game schedules, and use the interactive schedule maker.

1 Define the Draw

A draw is a specific period or segment of your season. To create one:

  • Navigate to your Season Admin page and click the "Manage Draws" tab.
  • Click "Create New Draw".
  • Name: Give it a descriptive name like "Round Robin 1" or "Playoffs".
  • Format: Choose the appropriate format (e.g., Round Robin, Bracket, or Box).
  • Dates: Select the specific dates from your season that will be assigned to this draw.
  • Current Draw: Check this box if you want this draw to be the active one shown on the public schedule page.

2 Configure Boxes & Teams

Once your draw is created, you need to group teams into competition pools (Boxes):

  • On the Manage Draw page, click "Add New Box".
  • Name & Rank: Provide a name (e.g., "Box A") and a rank (1 being the highest tier).
  • Assign Teams: Select the teams that will compete within this box. Use Ctrl or Cmd to select multiple teams.
  • Set Playing Order: Use the drag-and-drop list on the right to arrange teams in their specific playing or seeding order.
  • Crossovers: Enable "Crossovers" if you want teams in this box to be eligible to play against teams in other boxes.

3 Manage the Schedule

After creating your boxes, click "Manage Schedule" from the draw's overview page. Here you can:

  • Import CSV: Quickly upload an entire schedule using a CSV file.
  • Add Manual Match: Click "Add Manual Match" to create a single game between two teams on a specific date, time, and sheet.
  • Conflict Detection: The system automatically highlights conflicts, such as a team being scheduled twice at the same time or multiple games on the same sheet.
  • Edit/Delete: Modify or remove individual matches directly from the list.

4 Use the Schedule Maker

The Schedule Maker is an interactive drag-and-drop tool to help you visually arrange your matches:

  • Click "Open Schedule Maker" from the Manage Schedule page.
  • Matchup Pool: On the left, you'll see a pool of unassigned matchups (e.g., Team A vs Team B).
  • Drag and Drop: Drag matchups from the pool into the grid cells representing specific times and sheets for your selected date.
  • Auto-Assign: Use "Auto-Assign Pool" to quickly distribute unassigned matchups across the available slots.
  • Date Selection: Use the date selector to switch between the different game days you assigned to the draw.
  • Save: Don't forget to click "Save Schedule" to commit your changes!
